Robert McBride retired from the classical music broadcasting business in 2018, after a 35-year career at radio stations in Washington, Oregon, and New York, along with freelance production and hosting work for NPR, PRI, and others. Locally he’s best known for his nine years at OPB and 18 years at All Classical Radio, where he hosted Thursdays@Three, Club Mod, and other programs. Now he does voice-over work and conducts interviews for Chamber Music Northwest, Oregon Symphony, and others. Once upon a time he wanted to be a rock star, but that wasn’t very realistic, was it? He still plays drums occasionally, and classical percussion, and enjoys composing, arranging, auditing classes at Portland State University, and wondering what’s next.
